Legal Industry Consultants Altman Weil and Jomati Announce Strategic Alliance

International legal management consultancies, Altman Weil, Inc. and Jomati Limited have announced a strategic alliance.

Altman Weil, headquartered in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, and Jomati, based in London, provide consulting services exclusively to legal organizations, including law firms and major corporate law departments.  Both focus on high-level work involving strategy, merger, financial performance and organizational structure, and share a goal of providing clients with sophisticated, innovative solutions to management issues.   By combining, Altman Weil and Jomati broaden their capability to serve legal organizations throughout the world.

Both firms were involved in the two transatlantic mergers of US and UK law firms announced in 2004.  Altman Weil advised DLA in the recent DLA Piper Rudnick mega-merger.  Jomati acted for Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in their combination with Nicholson Graham & Jones.

“An increasing number of US and UK firms are considering the possibility of a transatlantic merger,” notes Jomati founding partner, Tony Williams.  “To be successful in such discussions the parties need an in-depth knowledge of the other’s market, capabilities and culture. This calls for breadth and depth on both sides of the Atlantic with advisors trusted by the senior management of each firm.”

“This alliance will allow Altman Weil to provide in-depth, on-the-ground, US consulting services to Jomati clients in the UK, Europe and Asia and vice-versa,” according to Altman Weil principal Ward Bower.  “During 2004, we collaborated on projects with great success, multiplying the value either firm could deliver independently to law firms with an international agenda.”

Founded in 1970, Altman Weil provides management consulting services to law firms, law departments, governmental legal organizations and legal vendors throughout North America, Latin America, the U.K. and Europe.  The firm is independently owned by its professional consultants, who have backgrounds in law, industry, finance, marketing, administration and government.

Jomati is an independently owned global management consultancy advising law firms and corporate law departments in the UK, Europe, the US, Asia and the Pacific Rim.  It is led by Tony Williams, formerly the worldwide managing partner of UK-based international law firm Clifford Chance and the worldwide managing partner of Andersen Legal, both acknowledged market leaders.
