Government Legal Office Specialist Barbara Drake Joins Altman Weil
Newtown Square, PA, August 3, 2006 — Barbara Drake, a government legal office specialist with over 20 years experience, has joined legal management consultancy Altman Weil, Inc. She will advise government legal offices on client service, client relations, practice management and human and technology resources.

Prior to joining Altman Weil, Ms. Drake served as the County Attorney for Arlington County, Virginia. In that capacity, she advised and represented the Arlington County Board and other elected and appointed officials, as well as departmental staff and agencies, boards and commissions of the county. She was responsible for the management and fiscal affairs of the County Attorney’s Office for both in-house staff and outside counsel.
Her government experience also includes service in the United States Department of Justice, where she served in the Office of the Attorney General as Assistant to the Attorney General and in the Civil Rights Division as Deputy Assistant Attorney General. In those capacities, she was involved in a wide range of substantive law areas and supervised the work of attorneys in departmental legal offices.
Prior to joining the Justice Department, Ms. Drake served as a Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, where she advised on legal issues involving state and federal law and represented the office in matters involving outside interests.
She began her government legal career as Deputy General Counsel to the Governor of Pennsylvania. Her responsibilities included advising and representing state officials, departments, boards and commissions, as well as supervising the work of attorneys in the legal offices of state agencies and departments.
Ms. Drake graduated from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and received her B.A. from Chatham College in Pittsburgh.
