Barbara Drake is an adjunct consultant with Altman Weil, Inc. She advises law firms and corporate law departments on efficiency and value, and how Legal Project Management can improve a firm’s organizational performance and profitability and benefit their clients.
As a former practicing and supervising lawyer, she incorporated the discipline of project management into legal work over the course of a career handling complex litigation, transactional and regulatory matters and improving operations and effectiveness of legal offices.
She also advises corporate and government law offices on how to improve client service and client relations, maximize efficiency and effectiveness in practice management and optimize utilization of human and technology resources.
Prior to joining Altman Weil, Ms. Drake held a number of management and executive positions in local, state and federal government.
Most recently, she served as the County Attorney for Arlington County, Virginia. Ms. Drake’s experience also includes service in the United States Department of Justice, where she served in the Office of the Attorney General as Assistant to the Attorney General and in the Civil Rights Division as Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
Prior to joining the Justice Department, Ms. Drake served as a Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General. She began her government legal career as Deputy General Counsel to the Governor of Pennsylvania.
Education
Barbara Drake graduated cum laude from the Dickinson School of Law and received her B.A. from Chatham College. She is admitted to practice before the courts of Pennsylvania, Virginia and the District of Columbia, as well as in the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
