MergerLine compiles news of mergers and acquisitions of all sizes involving at least one US law firm (including vereins with a US partnership component). Lawyer headcounts are derived from published league tables, directories and law firm websites.

In 2017, Altman Weil published Ten Years of Law Firm Mergers and Acquisitions, 2007-2016. The report includes a ten year retrospective on market activity, lists the 25 largest deals of the decade, profiles the ten most active state markets, and includes special sections on cross-border combinations, the acquisitions of AmLaw 200 firms, and the most active deal-makers.
