Kenneth E. Bunge is an adjunct consultant with Altman Weil, Inc.   He specializes in the areas of career management, performance development and leadership skills training for lawyers in corporate law departments.  He also works with corporate law departments on strategic planning projects and on creating, building and managing the corporate legal function.

For over a decade, Mr. Bunge served as Managing Attorney for United Technologies Corporation (UTC), a Fortune 50 company with over 200 lawyers worldwide.  In that role he had direct responsibility for all aspects of career management of UTC lawyers and paralegals, including hiring, performance counseling and career development.   Prior to that, he held the positions of Deputy Counsel, with responsibility for managing the law department, and Senior Attorney at Sikorsky Aircraft, a United Technologies Company.  He began his career as a Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force.

At UTC, Mr. Bunge oversaw a series of innovative programs for company lawyers. These included a Career Rotation Program providing lawyers with varied career opportunities; an International Recruitment Initiative, identifying highly qualified international law students interested in in-house careers; a formal Leadership Skills Training Program to enhance management, mentoring and supervisory skills among UTC lawyers; and a Paralegal Program focusing on career development, utilization and continuing education.  At Sikorsky Aircraft, he worked closely with the human resources department to develop the first-ever Attorney Job Share Program responding to work-life balance issues.

He has been active in the in-house legal community throughout his career.  He is the immediate past president of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Connecticut Chapter.  He served as Chairman of the Legal Quality Counsel of the Conference Board, and as Chairman of the Large Law Department Council.  More recently, he has served as President of the Executive Committee for the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity.

Education

Mr. Bunge received a B.A. from the State University of Buffalo, a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, Brooklyn, NY and a LLM from George Washington School of Law, Washington, DC.  He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Claims Court, the U.S Court of Military Appeals, and the New York and Connecticut Bars.
